Simone Biles Spotlights Friends of the Children in People Magazine

Olympics gymnast and youth advocate shares support in "Why I Care" article

Simone Biles shares her support for Friends of the Children in the issue of People Magazine that just hit newsstands! The world champion gymnast and youth advocate talked to People about her experience with foster care and her work with Friends of the Children.

“I was a foster kid, so I know how hard it is to feel like no one’s there. Those young people will always have a piece of my heart, which is why Friends of the Children is so dear to me,” says Simone in her “Why I Care” article in the pre-dated March 13 issue of People.

Simone has been working with Friends of the Children since 2020, when she presented a gymnastics workshop over Zoom with youth at Friends of the Children locations across the country. She has led other Zoom events for Friends of the Children and also invited our organization to be a beneficiary of a recent campaign with Axonius. This past January, Simone hosted Friends of the Children at her own gym in Spring, TX, celebrating the launch of the new Friends – Houston chapter as well as her newest Wheaties box! Debuting at this Breakfast of Champions, the box features Simone and spotlights the work of Friends of the Children.

Friends of the Children is honored that Simone partners with us to support youth as they follow their dreams and brings visibility to issues including foster care and mental health.
