Statement on unrest in Kenosha, WI

From Our CEO Terri Sorensen

Below is a statement from CEO, Terri Sorensen on the unrest in Kenosha, WI.

“The social unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin due to the police shooting of Jacob Blake is mirroring many other communities across the country as more Americans have taken the to the streets demanding justice for Black people in America. And in the middle of this reckoning, more lives have been destroyed due to police brutality. It is unconscionable. The trauma inflicted on all the children involved will have long-lasting, devastating effects on them. Friends of the Children is committed to reforming systems and helping children navigate around those that continue to harm them—and millions of other Black people in America. We demand better. We have to do better. It is going to take time to dismantle systemic racism. We are here to do that—for our youth, and for their families. Because Black Lives Matter.”
