Why DAF Giving Matters for Friends of the Children

At Friends of the Children, we commit to every child for the long term, 12+ years of consistent, caring mentorship from ages 4-6 through graduation. That promise is only possible through strong, reliable partnerships with donors who believe in sustained impact.

There are more than two million DAF accounts in the U.S holding $250B+ in funding. Imagine the collective impact when donors rally together! By giving through your Donor Advised Fund (DAF), you become a long-term partner in our mission - providing stability that ensures every child can count on their Friend, year after year.

Challenge Match Opportunity! In alignment with National DAF Day (October 9th, 2025) our generous partners at King Philanthropies are matching the first $100,000 we receive through DAF commitments – join others in committing today and help us meet the match.

What Is a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?

A Donor Advised Fund is a simple, flexible charitable giving account that allows you to:

When you give through your DAF, you are investing not just in this year’s work, but in a long-term partnership that strengthens our ability to keep our 12+ year promises to children.

How Your DAF Gift Supports Long-Term Commitment

  • Sustained Relationships: DAF gifts help us honor our 12+ year promise to each child.
  • Planning Ahead Together: Multi-year or recurring grants give us the ability to expand our reach and deepen our impact.
  • Partners in Legacy: By naming Friends of the Children as a beneficiary of your DAF, you ensure your partnership continues for generations.

How to Give Through Your DAF

  1. Log in to your DAF sponsor’s portal (Fidelity, Schwab, BNY Mellon, etc.).
  2. Recommend a grant to Friends of the Children (EIN: 93-1300690).
  3. Designate your gift as unrestricted (most powerful for sustaining our long-term promise) or direct it to a specific initiative.
  4. Consider setting up recurring or multi-year gifts to reflect your long-term partnership.
