2019 National Expansion Grant Opportunity
Join us! Help us launch a chapter in your community
Friends of the Children's successful model is now in 15 locations, including four sites in Oregon (Portland, Gresham, Klamath Falls/Basin and Central Oregon); Austin, TX; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Harlem and the South Bronx, NY; Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Tampa Bay, FL; and Cornwall, United Kingdom. We have a goal of expanding to 25 cities by 2025.
To meet our expansion goal, between now and August 31, 2019, Friends of the Children will be awarding four, $200,000 Expansion Grants to communities that want to bring a Friends of the Children chapter to their city.
Expansion Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to communities that can demonstrate through an application that they have met the following criteria:
- They have secured (including the Expansion Grant) a minimum of three-years’ seed funding ($850,000 for rural sites; $1.5M for urban sites) secured from diversified funding sources, e.g., a blend of funding sources that could include foundations, corporations, individuals, and government;
- They have established local champion’s committee, with the potential to recruit a strong Board of Directors for the organization once formally established;
- They have connections to strategic partnerships, to ensure that program needs can be met and that growth can be financially and programmatically sustained;
- - They have a clear understanding of the targeted local need, and how Friends of the Children addresses that need at the individual youth/family and community levels.
Join us! Be part of our expansion to 25 cities by 2025 so that one day, every young person who needs a Friend has a Friend. For more information, please view the RFA below and/or send us an email.
