Russell Wilson and Ciara Pay a Visit to Friends of the Children

Why Not You Foundation gives $115,000 for children facing the greatest challenges

Seattle, Wash. – 2014 Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson and GRAMMY Award Winning artist Ciara stopped by the Friends of the Children - Seattle office this week to share words of hope and encouragement with youth and Friends staff, and to present a check to Friends for $115,000 from Wilson’s Why Not You Foundation. Friends of the Children President Terri Sorensen shared the following statement:

“Our youth were so thrilled to meet Russell and Ciara. The couple encouraged our youth to work hard, dream big, set goals and achieve them. Hearing that from two incredibly successful people who have worked hard to achieve their goals will leave a lasting impact on our youth, who face some of the greatest life challenges. Russell and Ciara truly walk the walk, as evidenced by the work of the Why Not You Foundation, which has been a supporter of our Seattle chapter for several years. We’re pleased that the foundation has invested in our efforts to expand in other cities, including Los Angeles. We are incredibly grateful for the momentum we have heading into the new year, thanks to Russell and Ciara’s commitment to empowering youth.”

The $115,000 gift was made possible by Wilson’s Good Man Brand, which donates three percent of its sales to the Why Not You Foundation, which was founded in 2014 by Russell Wilson. Ciara recently joined the board of the Why Not You Foundation and focuses her efforts on empowering girls and young women.
