Sigrid Tornquist’s employment history includes working with students in Minneapolis Public Schools; writing with women human rights advocates from around the world to craft narratives for the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice in San Diego, Calif.; consulting in communications and grant writing for Artspace Projects, a Minneapolis, Minn.-based nonprofit arts organization; and most recently writing grants for Neighborhood House, a St. Paul, Minn.-based multiservice agency that works to alleviate food insecurity, help families access safe housing, support immigrants, and provide education to children in underserved communities.

Sigrid holds a Practical Nursing degree from Minneapolis Technical Institute; a Bachelor of Arts in Writing from Metro State University, St. Paul, Minn.; and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Hamline University, St. Paul, Minn. She’s excited to bring her passion for human rights-oriented writing and storytelling to Friends of the Children. When she’s not writing, Sigrid enjoys hiking, camping, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and grand dog—who make her laugh and keep her hopeful.
